RAPID CITY, S.D. – A Rapid City man who pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide in August was sentenced in Seventh Circuit Court Friday afternoon.
Seth Keim, 28, was sentenced to 40 years in prison with 15 suspended for driving under the influence resulting in the death of his girlfriend Lexi Hagen in September of last year.
Court documents show Keim was swerving in and out of traffic on Haines Avenue at a speed of 45 to 60 miles per hour when he collided with a police car which was on its way to a service call. The officer involved in the incident received a concussion.
The state argued Keim’s blood alcohol content being twice the legal limit in addition to this incident being his fourth DUI offense and his second DUI offense in which he hit a police car, made him deserving of an extended sentence.
