RAPID CITY, S.D. – A Rapid City man has been arrested and is facing charges related to several recent burglaries in downtown Rapid City, authorities announced.
At approximately 4:30 a.m. on October 11, police responded to a report of a break-in at 715 Kansas City Street. Upon arrival, officers found and detained a male suspect. A search of the man revealed keys to the building, which he was not authorized to have, and a glass pipe with residue that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
The man was arrested and charged with 3rd-degree burglary, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was later taken to the Rapid City Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division for questioning.
Following the interview, police linked the man to a series of burglaries in downtown Rapid City, including:
September 18: Aby’s Rapid City, 406 5th Street
October 4: 320 7th Street
October 5: Faith Temple Church, 715 Kansas City Street
October 7: Aby’s Rapid City, 406 5th Street
October 11: Faith Temple Church, 715 Kansas City Street
The investigation is ongoing, and police expect additional charges. The suspect’s name has not been released, as authorities are still searching for other individuals potentially involved in the burglaries.
