RC police arrest Nebraska man for indecent exposure to children

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Rapid City police say a Nebraska man has been placed under arrest following two incidents of indecent exposure to children.

Police say on July 13 at around 6:15 p.m., police were dispatched to the 800 block of Quincy Street for a report of an adult male who had exposed himself to a child. On arrival, police learned that a child was playing outside when they were approached by 42-year-old Patrick Catlin of Wausa, NE.

Catlin exposed himself to the child before leaving the area.

As police were investigating the incident on Quincy Street, they received another report of indecent exposure at a store in the 1400 block of Eglin Street.

Police made contact with the reporting party who stated she was inside the store with her two children. While in one of the aisles, an unknown male exposed himself to the two children. The unknown male was seen leaving the store and got into a van before leaving, and staff were able to provide a license plate for the vehicle.

Upon review of security footage, the male matched the suspect description given in the earlier incident.

At around 10:15 p.m. on July 13th, police were dispatched to the 1800 block of Eglin Street for a report of an intoxicated subject seen getting into a van. On arrival, police observed a male in driver’s seat, and officers noted the van’s license plate matched the plate given from the indecent exposure incident in the 1400 block of Eglin Street and identified the driver as Catlin.

An Investigator from the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene in order to speak with Catlin. With the information garnered in the investigation, Catlin was ultimately placed under arrest for three counts of Indecent Exposure Involving a Child, DUI, and Open Container in a Motor Vehicle.
