RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City police have arrested a 32-year-old man in connection with an early morning homicide.
Michael Flores Jr. was arrested for First Degree Murder Thursday in connection with the death of a male who was found near the Cornerstone Rescue Mission.
Flores, a Rapid City resident, is currently on parole for assaulting law enforcement and possession of a controlled substance. He has been placed on a parole hold and booked into the Pennington County Jail.
At approximately 3 A.M. on June 20, the Rapid City Police Department responded to a report of an unconscious male found on the sidewalk at 30 Main St. Upon arrival, officers and Pennington County Sheriff’s deputies discovered a white male victim who was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The victim’s name has not been released pending notification of relatives.
The RCPD and Pennington County Sheriff’s Office are jointly investigating the homicide. Authorities urge anyone with relevant information to contact police investigations at 605-394-4134. Anonymous tips can also be submitted by texting ‘RCPD’ and the information to 847411.

At approximately 3:01 A.M. on June 20, the Rapid City Police Department responded to a report of an unconscious male found on the sidewalk at 30 Main St. Upon arrival, officers and Pennington County Sheriff’s deputies discovered a white male victim who was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police say several individuals in the area provided information related to the investigation.
Early findings led investigators to a potential suspect who is currently being interviewed. Authorities believe this incident is not random, and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
