DEADWOOD, S.D. – RCALF-USA is holding its annual convention in Deadwood, marking the event’s 25th year, this week.
The convention drew attendees from nearly 20 different states, where they listened to discussions on current topics, legislative efforts, and insights from numerous industry experts.
Throughout the event, attendees had the opportunity to hear presentations on legislative and production issues critical to ranchers and farmers, highlighting the significant impact these issues have on national food security.
Bill Bullard, CEO of R-CALF USA said that it is important to have these discussions, noting that the convention aims to develop solutions to the challenges faced by the agricultural community.
One of the big topics being discussed is MCOOL, or mandatory country of origin labeling.
Bullard says South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds is helping them push for MCOOL.
Another topic being discussed is proposed mandatory use of animal ear I.D. tags, which the group opposes.
The convention comes to a close Friday night with a live auction and dinner. Giving the evening’s keynote address will be Internationally recognized investigative journalist Lara Logan.
