RCAS gets poor participation in school survey

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Area School officials say their 2023-2024 school year survey didn’t get much input.

The strategic plan survey was divided into four categories: district services, employee experience, parents, and students. Each section was scored out of 5. Each category was then given areas for improvement; some common themes for parents and students were having more academic quality and wellness updates.

School officials say while the input they did receive is helpful for the district as they plan to move forward, the number of parents and students that participated was less than 10-percent.

This was the first time the school district conducted the survey, and they say despite the poor turnout, it will not be the last. RCAS plans to conduct the survey every school year moving forward as part of the district’s strategic plan.
