RCPD – Hit and run leaves motorcyclist dead

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Police are investigating a hit and run that has claimed the life of a motorcyclist.

Police reported on the evening of September 13th, slightly after 9 p.m., the RCPD responded to a motorcycle crash at the intersection of Haines Avenue and College Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found an injured motorcycle rider and immediately arranged for medical transport to the hospital for treatment.

Evidence collected from the scene suggests that at least one other vehicle was involved in the crash.

The rider succumbed to their injuries at the hospital on the evening of September 17th.

An autopsy conducted on September 19th confirmed that the rider’s death was a direct result of injuries sustained in the crash.

The identity of the rider is being withheld to ensure that proper notification of next-of-kin is carried out. Meanwhile, the police are actively engaged in determining the driver of the second vehicle involved in the crash.
