RAPID CITY, S.D. – Police are actively investigating multiple reports of gunfire in the Star Village neighborhood and surrounding streets, including Saint Andrew St., Saint Francis St., and Saint Charles St., over the past week. These incidents have predominantly occurred between 7:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m.
Authorities believe the incidents may be related, as the reports share similar times and locations. In many cases, suspects appear to be firing weapons from moving vehicles. Investigators do not believe these acts are targeted attacks but rather reckless and random gunfire, posing a significant danger to the community.
The Rapid City Police Department (RCPD) is prioritizing this investigation and has increased patrols in the affected areas. “This behavior is an extreme danger to the community and is being taken very seriously,” the department stated. Detectives are actively working to identify and apprehend those responsible.
