RCPD, PCSO, execute high risk search warrant Wednesday

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, Rapid City Police Department and South Dakota State Troopers executed a high-risk search warrant today on the 2100 block of Central Blvd.

The warrant was used to search for illegal drugs and weapons on the property. Because of the potential of weapons being present, the Special Response team was deployed to the scene.

The Special Response Team was on site for approximately an hour. In that time, the team utilized armored vehicles, K9 units, a hazardous materials containment unit and other tactical gear.

The warrant was executed without incident.

RCPD Captain Christian Sigel said that he was pleased with how the search had gone. “Anytime we can resolve a situation like this, peacefully, with nobody getting hurt. Safety is of utmost importance to us. That’s why we have, the gear and the training that we do. Mostly to protect the citizens in the neighborhood.” Sigle acted as the Tactical Commander for Wednesday’s warrant execution.

Sigel added, “It’s important to know that anything related to guns or narcotics is a high priority for us. We take an aggressive approach. Typically, guns and drugs are associated with violent crime in our area and so we take a lot of a lot of pride and do a lot of, proactive work toward combating those.”
