Remainder of college rodeo season canceled, finals still on

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association has canceled the remainder of the season.

“It is heartbreaking for all of our athletes, coaches, and fans, but the health and safety of everyone is the most important at this time,” a release from the NIRA said.

As of now, the 2020 College National Finals Rodeo is still planned for June 14-20 in Casper, however a final decision will be made by May 14, with the advisement of the CDC and the State of Wyoming and their Public Health Departments.

According to Black Hill State University Yellow Jackets Rodeo Team Coach Glen Lammers, the BHSU Women’s Team is currently leading the Great Plains Region and the men’s team was just out of the top two.  In addition, Black Hills State has several cowboys and cowgirls with standings who hopeful that they might get a chance to compete at the College National Finals Rodeo.
