BLACK HAWK, S.D. – Students at Black Hawk Elementary School had a substitute teacher Wednesday. Not usually a big deal, but for this particular day, their substitute teacher was also a South Dakota Congressman.
Dusty Johnson spent the entire school day Wednesday filling in for a first-grade teacher to highlight the workforce shortage.
And, the kids didn’t seem to mind “Mr. Johnson” teaching them everything from reading to participating in group activities.
Johnson says he has teenagers at home, and working with the younger kids was a different kind of lesson for him.
“They’re flexible, they’re dynamic; they understand that every day is going to be a little bit different.”
