RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Congressman Dusty Johnson was in Rapid City Tuesday, meeting with companies who are bracing for possible supply chain issues and manufacturing backups.
Johnson toured RDO Equipment Company and RESPEC.
Sid Houdek, General Manager at RDO, told Johnson that they have been trying to stay out front of supply needs, but admitted that may run into trouble related to machine availability down the line.
RDO only has a few job openings at its Rapid City location, but the company is hoping to fill over 60 positions in the region.
Similar concerns came from the C.E.O. of RESPEC, where Todd Kenner told Johnson that they are trying to alleviate issues with a growing demand for renewable energy. He says want to bring to light a need for meeting the demand in the right way.
Representative Johnson says he’s taking aim at the issue, lobbying for a more skilled workforce. His push, acknowledging the need for a bigger emphasis on skills job training.
