Rescue crews help teen who fell from a ledge at Falling Rock

RAPID CITY, S.D. — On Sunday night, around 7:00 p.m., the Pennington County Search and Rescue team was called to Falling Rock on West Highway 44 for a report of a teen who had fallen from a ledge.

Search and Rescue arrived on scene and saw that the individual was about 100 feet from the top. The team then gained access to the patient by a steep slope between rock outcroppings.

A high angle rescue was performed and in an hour, the patient was extracted and transported by RCFD to Monument Health for treatment of his injuries.

Responding agencies included:

Johnson Siding Fire Department, Rapid City Fire Department, Pennington County Fire Service, Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, Pennington County Search & Rescue, and Life Flight.
