STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis Area Chamber of Commerce and Sturgis Economic Development Corporation joined personnel from Dolan Creek Senior Living in cutting the ribbon for the new business Thursday.
The new assisted-living and independent living senior care center on Moose Drive features 50 units in a three-story building. The first floor holds 14 assisted living apartments and floors two and three, hold 36 independent living apartments.
A large portion of the financing for the $10-million project came from David Gustafson and Gustafson Builders, who says there were many groups who made this possible.
Also helping with financing the project along with the SEDC and City of Sturgis was the Greater Sturgis Lifecare Foundation and low-interest loans.
Theresa Henderson is the Executive Director at Dolan Creek. She says as of today, they only had two apartments left on the first floor, with several openings on the independent living floor.
She says the number of calls they receive shows how important this facility is to Sturgis.
Henderson says the state of the art facility is designed to provide exceptional care and support for its residents while promoting independence and well-being.
As for the future, David Gustafson says there are plans for townhouses on the back side of the Dolan Creek property.
Following today’s ribbon cutting, tours of the new facility were offered.
EmpRes Healthcare out of Vancouver, Washington is the owner-operator of the facility.
