Roger W. Anderson

Roger W. Anderson, 64 of Rapid City, died June 15, 2024 at Monument Health Plus Hospice House.

Roger was born in Keosauqua, IA and raised in Burmingham, IA with his sister Janet (Bonnet) by parents Ross and Hope Anderson. There he learned a love of the outdoors while hunting and fishing with his dad. He graduated from Van Buren High School in 1978 and served in the US Army from 1978-1982. Following that he worked in the Fairfield Foundry for 11 years. In 1995 he had an encounter with the Lord Jesus and was known to spend hours in prayer and bible reading.

On December 24th, 2001 he married Kathrine (Watkins). The couple moved to Kalona, IA where Roger began to build a business painting and remodeling. In 2015 they moved to the Black Hills of South Dakota where he continued his business and they enjoyed hiking and serving the local church. In March 2024 he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He “fought the good fight of faith” and went home to “glory land”.

He is survived by his wife Kathrine, sister Janet, stepson Ben Passmore (wife Eva and four grandchildren: Tori, Elijah, Annabelle and Ella), nephews Cris Bonnet(wife Brenda) and Edward Bonnet (wife Tami), niece Evanica Brown(husband Matt) and seven great nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents Ross and Hope Anderson, sister Letha Ann Anderson, brother-in-law Mike Bonnet and granddaughter Liliana Passmore.

Services will be held at a later date in Manson, Iowa.

Arrangements are with West River Funeral Directors in Rapid City.
