SIOUX FALLS, SD – The Sioux Falls Roosevelt Rough Riders lived up to their #1 seed in Class AA basketball, running roughshod over the Sturgis Scoopers 57-19 in a SoDak 16 matchup to earn a spot in the State Basketball Tournament.
The Rough Riders used full-court pressure to force Scooper turnovers and jumped out to a 34-10 lead at the half and they never looked back enroute to the win.
Justin Shaw scored 10 for Roosevelt (21-0), with Thoralingo Gilo adding 9 points. The Rough Riders are the defending AA champs and won their 32nd game in a row going back to last season.
Jake Vliem and Owen Cass scored four apiece for Sturgis. Vliem snared 9 rebounds for the Scoopers, who finish their season with six wins and 15 losses.Â
Sioux Falls Roosevelt plays the ninth seeded Yankton Bucks in the first round of the Class AA State Tournament on Mar. 17 at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls.Â
