ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Rushmore Swim Team (RST) Tsunami captures second place honors at South Dakota’s State “A” Long Course Swimming Championships held July 21st – 23rd in Aberdeen, SD. This annual championship hosted 379 youth swimmers representing 15 SD teams and 01 MN team. Long Course refers to a 50-meter racing pool better known as the Olympic distance/pool.

RST – Individual Highlights
Hunter Johnson earned two South Dakota state titles, 1500m free and the 200m butterfly, men’s 15-16 age group, while Charlie Ashton received two state titles in the 100m and 200m breaststroke for men’s 13-14 age group.

Charlie Ashton, Izzy Renaud and Nathan Schryver, all from RST, have been selected as members of the South Dakota team and will compete at the 2023 Central Zones Championships in Kansas City in August. Zones is a 14 & Under regional competition representing the best swimmers across 10 central and midwestern states.
USA Swimming certified Coach Beth Eldridge is the head coach of the Rushmore Swim Team. Coach Eldridge has over 35 years of experience in coaching and swimming.
