S.E.D.C. director updates Sturgis Council on bowling alley proposal

STURGIS, S.D. – Sturgis Economic Development Corporation Director Amanda Anglin appeared before the Sturgis Council last night to provide an update on a plan to help a local operator buy the local bowling alley.

Anglin says they would provide the funding to the local operator and he would take over operations of the facilty and make payments to fully purchase the bowling alley from S.E.D.C.

She says until that happens, S.E.D.C. will be the property owner.

“S.E.D.C. will be the property owner, not the city. We are partnering to make a project successful and keep this business open and operating in our community. Projects like this are not outside our normal activities of an economic development organization.”

Anglin says after learning of some highly motivated buyers who intended on making the building a rally-only operation, S.E.D.C. wanted to come up with a plan in hopes of keeping it a year-round, local business.
