Salvation Army to temporarily suspend food pantry eligibility guidelines

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Salvation Army reported Monday that to better serve our communities during these uncertain times, we are temporarily suspending our food pantry eligibility guidelines.

Families in need will now be able to receive pantry boxes once a month instead of once every three months throughout the duration of the crisis.

Pantry walk in hours are Monday-Friday from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m at The Salvation Army Rapid City Corps located at 405 N. Cherry in Rapid City, and Monday-Friday from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at The Salvation Army Spearfish Thrift store located at 320 Ryan Road in Spearfish.

Additionally, for the most at risk population, we will be offering pantry box delivery during this pandemic crisis. This is limited to households with individuals who are immune compromised or have high-risk medical conditions and are choosing to self-quarantine; the elderly; and those who may have been asked to observe a quarantine due to possible exposure.

Households will be screened via phone by Salvation Army caseworkers and delivery of food boxes will be made to their doorstep to avoid contact.

This includes Rapid City, Spearfish, and surrounding communities.

For more information or to request a box, please call 605-342-0982.
