SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Spearfish Sasquatch defeated the Casper Spuds 9-2 on Tuesday thanks in part to five runs in the first inning.
Ryan Bachman doubled, scoring two runs, Javier Marcial singled, scoring one run, and Jake Dempsey homered to left field, scoring two runs.
Spearfish scored one run in the bottom of the second on a solo home run to right field by Seth Nelson.
Rafael Jackson homered to right field, scoring two runs in the top of the seventh for the Casper Spuds.
Russell Petersen earned the win for Spearfish. The starting pitcher gave up three hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out seven and walking one. Ty Vollmar took the loss for Casper.
