Saturday COVID-19 report indicates 27 new deaths, 906 new cases

STURGIS, S.D. – State health officials reported 27 new COVID-19 deaths Saturday as the virus continued its deadly hold on South Dakota.

The new death’s send the death toll to 1,091.

New cases today totaled 906 and active cases were 16,202.

Hospitalizations went down by 4 to 512.

Around the Black Hills area, Pennington County added 125 new cases Saturday, sending the cumulative total to 9,278 with 1,876 remaining active.

Lawrence County added 34 new cases Saturday for a total of 2,186 and 420 are active.

Meade County reported 27 new cases, raising the total to 1,880. There are 392 cases remaining active in Meade County.

Other new cases across the Black Hills are included 10 in Oglala Lakota, 7 in Custer, 5 in Harding, 3 in Fall River and 2 in Butte.

Total new cases across West River Saturday were 256.
