Saturday COVID-19 update – 91 new cases

PIERRE, S.D. – There were 91 new cases of COVID-19 Saturday, according to the South Dakota Department of Health.

The new cases raise the cumulative total statewide to 5,833. There are 930 active cases Saturday — up from 17 from Friday.

A new death was also reported today – a person in the 50-59 age group in Pennington County. The county’s death toll is now 8 with 75 statewide.

In the Black Hills area, Pennington County saw an increase of 16 cases. Their cumulative total is 378 with 177 active cases.

Meade County added 3 new cases of COVID-19, raising their cumulative total to 33. The active caseload in Meade is at 13.

Other new cases across western South Dakota include one in Corson County, one in Jackson County, one in Todd County and one in Lyman County.

The number of people hospitalized is 85. That is down 2 from Friday.
