STURGIS, S.D. – Fire crews battled extreme cold conditions in knocking down a fire that destroyed a home at the mouth of Boulder Canyon Saturday afternoon.
Meade County Emergency Management reports two residents and several pets of the mobile home off Lazelle Street are displaced following the fire.
Sturgis Fire crews and E.M.S. were paged to the fire at approximately 1:34 p.m.
The occupant stated frozen water lines were being thawed by the landlord and it’s believed that is what may have sparked the blaze.
The American Red Cross, Black Hills chapter is assisting the residents and their pets who escaped. The residents lost everything in the fire.
