RAPID CITY, S.D. –The South Dakota School of Mines on Tuesday held their annual Women in STEM Conference
This year, over 60 guest speakers came to the campus and spoke about how they were inspired to pursue a STEM-related career and the work that they do in their fields. Additionally, several representatives from local and state-wide organizations volunteered their time to engage with the more than 800 7th-graders that attended the event this year. Some event participants shared their stories and more.
According to a report by the National Girls Collaborative Project, less than 30 percent of of women make up the workforce in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields.
