Scooper athletes shine at Lead-Deadwood Track and Field Meet

LEAD, S.D. – The Sturgis Scooper Track and Field team had a great day at the Lead-Deadwood High School Track and Field Meet on Tuesday, May 9.

The Scooper boys and girls each won seven events on the day.

For the boys, Ty Ferguson claimed the 800 meter dash and Jayden Ludwick won both the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles. Taiton Ortlieb won the high jump, Cole Litzen got the long jump and Jaxon Cano won the triple jump. The Scooper boys also won the 4×200 meter realy.

For the girls, Iris Zylstra won the 400 meters, Lucy Hamer won both the 800 and 1,600 meters, Danica DeSchaak won the high jump and Erin Shaw was double event winner,  capturing the long jump and triple jump. The Scooper girls relay team also won the 4×400 meters.

The home team Golddiggers claimed five events for the boys and four events for the girls.
