Scooper Bats Catch Fire Late To Defeat Douglas

STURGIS, SD – The Scooper baseball team jumped out to a 4-0 lead early, then cooled off in the middle innings, allowing the Douglas Patriots to score a run in the third to cut into the Sturgis lead. The Scoopers scored one in the bottom of the fifth before exploding for five runs off of six hits in the sixth to rout the Patriots by a final of 10-2. 

Kain Peters got the win for Sturgis, striking out six on 53 pitches. Dawson Inhofer threw four innings of relief to earn the save. Sturgis pounded out 11 hits and were led by senior slugger Ridge Inhofer who had three hits and two runs batted in.  The Scoopers left three on base and had one error. Dakota Burke took the loss for Douglas. The Patriots (1-7) had five hits, five left on base and two errors. 

Sturgis improves to 3-5 and will host Belle Fourche on Wednesday at Strong Field, weather permitting.
