Scooper boys fall to Aberdeen Central 66-53

STURGIS, S.D. – After a strong first half, the Scoopers couldn’t keep up with the Golden Eagles of Aberdeen Central in the second half.

Sturgis got off a great start, leading Aberdeen Central 17-13 after the first quarter. Marcus Myrick canned four three-pointers in the early going and Ryder Ladner added eight points and the Scoopers took a 30-27 lead into halftime.

But the second half was a total different game for Aberdeen Central, and Reece Burckhard took charge, scoring 16 points and helping the Golden Eagles outscore Sturgis 24-11 in the third to take a dominating lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

The Golden Eagles would get the 66-53 win.

Austin Huff would add 12 points for the Golden Eagles and Andrew Bergan chipped in 8.

The Scoopers hot a huge game from Marcus Myrick, who finished with 27 points. David Anderson and Ryder Ladner each finished with 10.

Aberdeen Central out-rebounded the Scoopers 29 to 18. Sturgis shot 40-percent from the floor for the game while the Golden Eagles shot 39-percent.
