Scooper Ty Petrocco wins Sturgis Invite Cross Country

STURGIS, S.D. – Sturgis Scooper Ty Petrocco won his home town cross country invite Thursday by capturing the Sturgis Invitational ran at Fort Meade.

Petrocco finished in a time of 16:10.15. Thunder Basin’s Patrick Hardesty came in second and Kalel Brubaker of Natrona County, Wyoming was third.

Quinn Bruch of Sturgis had a nice finish, placing 7th behind two runners from Casper-Kelly Walsh.

Sheridan won the team title with Thunder Basin second and Kelly Walsh third. Sturgis placed fifth behind Natrona County.

In the girls race, Ally Wheeler of Natrona County finished first in a time of 18:42.18. Peyton VanDeest of Spearfish placed second and Lexi Longhurst of Kelly Walsh was third.

Sturgis’ Lucy Hamer finished in ninth place.

Natrona County won the girls team title with Sheridan second and Sturgis placing third. Paige Willnerd in 16th and Iris Zylstra in 20th helped the Scoopers finished in the top three.
