STURGIS, SD – The Yankton Bucks drained 10 three-pointers and shot 58% from the field as they overwhelmed the Sturgis Scoopers 69-34 on Saturday afternoon at West Gym.
Sturgis was sitting at #16 in the SoDak 16 seed point standings prior to Saturday’s matchup with the Bucks, just ahead of Rapid City Central. The Cobblers faced Sioux Falls Washington on Saturday at home. The Warriors defeated the Cobblers 63-42 and the loss by Central ensured Sturgis would make the postseason.
Yankton (12-8) was led by Max Ryken with 14 points, shooting six of eight from the field and two for two on free throws, with two three pointers. Â Dysen Peterson had 12 for the Scoopers, who finish the regular season with six wins and 14 losses and will travel to Sioux Falls on Saturday, March 5 to play the #1 seeded Roughriders.
