LEAD, SD – The Sturgis Scoopers came into Thursday night’s volleyball matchup with Lead-Deadwood badly needing a win and they got one, sweeping the Golddiggers in three sets.
Sturgis beat Lead-Deadwood 25-14, 25-23 and 25-17 to earn their sixth win of the season.
Setter Makenna Labeau led Sturgis (6-15) with 22 assists. Emmie Sargent had 11 kills and one block for the Scoopers.
Haidyn Jacobs had 10 assists, one kill and one ace for Lead-Deadwood (5-19). Ava Bertrand added seven kills and two assists for the Diggers.
Sturgis is in action again next Tuesday as the Scoopers host Rapid City Christian.
