STURGIS, S.D. – The South Dakota Highway Patrol released the year’s final Rally Tally Sunday.
The 83rd Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally ended with 5 fatalities and 64 injury accidents. That compares to 3 and 50 respectively in 2022.
The number of non-injury crashes totaled 58 – up over last year’s 45. The patrol reported four injury crashes on Saturday.
In all, there were 155 felony drug arrests and 246 misdemeanor drug arrests. Both of those numbers were well ahead of last year.
D-U-I arrests totaled 120 – down from last year’s 148.
Meanwhile, Sturgis Police reported 66 D-U-I’s on the year – up slightly from 2022. There were 36 felony drug arrests and 77 misdemeanor drug arrests,. Those numbers were right in line with last year.
Sturgis Police also doled out 119 illegal parking citations and responded to 28 fight calls.
Police also reported 26 speeding citations, 28 license plate or registration violations and 17 stop sign or stop light violations.
In all, Sturgis Police made 265 traffic-related arrests and 167 non-traffic related arrests.
