RAPID CITY, S.D. – The 132nd Annual Convention & Trade Show for the South Dakota Stockgrowers Association will be held October 3-4, 2023 at The Box Convention Center in Box Elder, S.D.
Committee meetings get underway today (Oct. 2, 2023) while the first full day of the convention bringing in a number of presenters.
Tuesday’s agenda includes policy updates from representatives from the offices of South Dakota’s three congressional members, Rounds, Thune and Johnson.
The growing issue of woody encroachment along the mid-Missouri River will be addressed by Sean Kelly in cooperation with USDA-NRCS with Elliot Boom, attorney with Beardsley, Jensen & Lee will present a segment on financial estate planning
In addition, an update on the state’s brand board and suggested changes by the Stockgrowers as to the management of the agency will begin at 2:30p.m.
A South Dakota legislative panel at 3:30p.m. will be followed by the awards and recognition banquet.
Wednesday’s (Oct. 4, 2023) agenda includes presentations on precision technology in ranching, Kristie Fiegen, Chairperson of the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission and rangeland response to varied weather patterns.
A membership meeting gets underway at 3:30p.m. and the evening wraps up with Casino Night, the associations annual fundraiser for scholarships and its support of the Rapid City Club for Boys.
