SDDOT asks for public input on transportation

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Transportation is looking for input in order to improve public transportation.

The Department sent out a survey to residents around the state.

Recipients can scan the QR code on the survey. It should take only a few minutes to complete, and responses will be used to plan projects going forward.

The Department of Transportation is partnering with WBA Research out of Maryland to plan for future transportation investments and to improve services.

“We can use this information to better our programs, include our grant writing, go after different types of grants at the federal level, to bring more money into South Dakota to improve our transportation services,” Jack Dokken, Program Manager for the Department’s Office of Air, Rail and Transit said.

The survey allows residents the chance to fill out information about themselves, where they live, public transportation options in their area and whether they feel that public transportation is satisfactory where they live.

Dokken, said that the survey will be used to help those most in need.

“A lot of our focus revolves around people who can’t transport themselves, that ranges from anywhere between people with disabilities, the elderly, kids who need to get to school but their parents are working at the same time they need to get to school,” Dokken said.
