STURGIS, S.D. – In their latest report issued today, the South Dakota Highway Patrol reported no fatal crashes as the 84th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle prepares to wind down.
There were five injury crashes reported, with one that left a motorcyclist with life threatening injuries. That accident happened on S.D. Highway 79 near mile marker 157. The motorcyclist drifted off the roadway and struck a delineator post. The driver was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The number of injury crashes on the year total 31. Non-injury crashes also total 31. Both numbers remain down over last year.
Felony drug arrests total 129 on the year with misdemeanor drug arrests at 230. D.U.I. arrests total 124, well ahead of last year’s 94 on this date.
In Sturgis, police report the number of parking citations are 120 on the year – up 8 over last year on this date.
So far, 130 people have been booked through the Meade County Jail.
