PIERRE – South Dakota’s Primary Election was held Tuesday, June 2.
According to the unofficial results, statewide voter turnout was 28.22%, with 154,324 ballots cast.
Within the total ballot count, absentee ballots accounted for 88,949 ballots, while 65,375 ballots were cast at polling locations across the state on Tuesday.
Official results will be available at the conclusion of the election returns canvass to be performed by the State Canvassing Board.
“Thank you to all those who participated in this election. I’d also like to offer my deepest appreciation for the incredible work by our county auditors, local election officials, and election workers in carrying out this election,” stated Secretary of State Steve Barnett.
Tuesday’s turnout marked the most votes cast in a South Dakota Primary Election since 2008.
