Serious accident involving semi-truck shuts down small part of I-90 Monday morning

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota Highway Patrol says a trucker was taken to the hospital after a crash on I-90 at Rapid City Monday morning.

The incident happened when the driver of a semi lost control, struck a concrete  barrier and overturned just west of Exit 58. The truck was traveling in the westbound lane when the accident occurred. The truck ended up nearly upside down off the overpass that crosses over North Maple Avenue.

I-90 westbound between 58 and 59 were shut down for approximately 10 hours as crews performed clean up.

The patrol says the driver was wearing a seat belt and received serious injuries. He was taken to the hospital.
