Severe thunderstorms bring large hail, gusty wind to northeast Wyoming and western South Dakota

STURGIS, S.D. – Another round of severe weather brought damaging winds and large hail to northeast Wyoming and western South Dakota Sunday.

In Wyoming, damage reports include a roof being blown off of a shed, damaged siding and even a power pole being broken off in the Rozet area. One inch hail was reported near Rozet and a camper was also blown over.

In the Gillette area, thunderstorm wind damage was reported as a barn lost its roof and debris was thrown 150 feet.

As the storms moved into South Dakota, a roof was torn off of a shed in the Belle Fourche area from thunderstorm winds and half dollar to golf ball sized size hail was reported in the Piedmont and Stagebarn areas. Several homes in the area reported roof, siding and vehicle damage. Some reports out of Piedmont reported some hail stones to 2.25-inches, or close to tennis ball size. Summerset reported 2-inch hail.

The Custer area also reported 1.75-inch hail and 1-inch hail was reported in Rockerville.
