Severe weather knocks down power poles in Ziebach County

DUPREE, S.D. – A strong thunderstorm packing some heavy wind caused some damage in Ziebach County Thursday night.

The storm hit the Dupree area around 6:00 p.m. under severe status and blew down at least 12 power poles.

The storm did bring some much needed moisture to the area, however. The National Weather Service says they have received reports of anywhere from three-quarters of an inch to an inch of rain.

The storms also brought some gusty wind to neighboring Harding County, where a 60 mph wind gust was reported a mile north of Buffalo.
