RAPID CITY, S.D. — A juvenile male was detained following a shooting incident on the afternoon of February 27, which left one person hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police were dispatched around 3:30 p.m. to the area of E. North Street and Milwaukee Street for a report of an individual who had been shot. Officers arrived and provided emergency first aid before the victim was transported to the hospital by medical personnel.
Meanwhile, officers located the shooting suspect near E. Van Buren Street and N. Lacrosse Street.
The juvenile male was detained and transported to the Public Safety Building for questioning. Following an interview, he was placed in the juvenile justice system.
The firearm used in the incident was later recovered by a South Dakota Highway Patrol officer.
The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the ongoing investigation.
