SPEARFISH, SD – The City of Spearfish will be holding an open-house-style meeting from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13, at the W.S. Tretheway Pavilion in Spearfish City Park.
The purpose of the meeting is to gather public input and feedback regarding potential short-term rental regulation in Spearfish.
The City of Spearfish does not currently regulate short term rentals.
In response to rising concerns, the City formed a taskforce made up of various community members, including short-term rental and hotel owners, to explore the issue.
The task force has held three meetings since it was established earlier this year during which the group has discussed the positive and negative impacts of short-term rentals, identified short-term rental policy goals (see goals below), and formulated preliminary recommendations.
As a next step, the City is hosting this open-house-style meeting to gather public input and feedback around potential short-term rental regulation.
A survey will be available to fill out at the meeting.
