Sign up for winter travel alerts in Pennington County

RAPID CITY, S.D. –  So far, the Black Hills haven’t had much in the way of snow but it won’t be long before winter driving conditions are upon us. To stay on top of major impacts on travel Rapid City along with Pennington County offer text alerts.

Ranging from major emergencies to minor detours and traffic delays, the alert system is a convenient way to get a heads-up before you head out the door.

Some alerts may not apply to a users specific area but Rapid City Pennington County Emergency Management says some are important for everyone. Deputy Director of Rapid City Pennington County Emergency Management Alexa White says, “Public warning messages are applicable to most everyone – no matter their location.”

All available alerts are listed on the Pennington County website at pennco.org/textalerts

To sign up, text the name of the alert system to 888-777
