WASHINGTON, DC – Sign up for the second round of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program, better known as CFAP 2, re-opens today, April 5th.
US Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack announced in late March the program will be open for at least 60 days now that eligibility revisions have been made including additional funding for the program.
The program originally closed in December but is now re-opened for all eligible producers.
“The pandemic affected all of agriculture, but many ranchers and farmers did not benefit from previous rounds of pandemic-related assistance. The Biden-Harris Administration is committed to helping as many producers as possible, as equitably as possible,” said Vilsack. “Our new USDA Pandemic Assistance for Producers initiative will help get financial assistance to a broader set of producers.”
USDA has also announced $2 million will be used to establish partnerships with organizations and provide outreach and technical assistance to disadvantaged ranchers and farmers.
Both are part of the $6 billion USDA Pandemic Assistance for Producers, a new initiative under the Biden administration.
