SEATTLE, Wash. – Simeon Birnbaum has had a wonderful spring track season — and he has just brought home, perhaps the biggest win of his career.
Birnbaum won the Brooks PR Invitational Wednesday in Seattle, Washington. Not only did he win, he finished the race in under four minutes. He is the third Junior in U.S. history and the 17th high school student ever to finish in under four minutes.
Birnbaum finished the race in 3 minutes, 59.51 seconds.
Birnbaum broke the South Dakota state record in the 1,600 and 3,200 meter run earlier this year.
Yesterday’s finish at the national event is nearly eight and a half second better than his previous personal record.
