RAPID CITY, S.D. – Harney Little League needed two victories to claim the state championship, and fell just a little short in accomplishing that goal.
In the first game of the day, Harney beat Sioux Falls 6-2. But Sioux Falls would swing the bats much better in game two, and went on to a 12-9 win.
Harney gave it their all in game two; coming back from a 10-4 deficit to make it 10-9 heading into the sixth and final inning.
Sioux Falls added some insurance runs in the top of the sixth and Harney was unable to score in the bottom half of the inning.
With the win, Sioux Falls advances to the Midwest Regionals, taking place Aug. 5-12 in Indianapolis.
