RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota Class A State Cheer and Dance competition was held Friday in Rapid City.
Sioux Valley won their 14th consecutive state cheer championship and Dakota Valley claimed their 11th straight dance title.
Sioux Valley finished on top in the cheer competition with 283 points. Wolsey-Wessington was second with 230.5 and Dell Rapids was third with 206. Top-placing area school was Belle Fourche in 7th. The Broncs finished third in the small group category.
In dance, Dakota Valley finished on top with 346 points. Winner Area was second with 310 and Platte Geddes was third with 287.75.
Dakota Valley won the Jazz and Pom categories and Winner won the Kick and Hip Hop categories.
The South Dakota Class AA Cheer and Dance State Championships are Saturday.
