Six new deaths, 148 new COVID-19 cases reported Friday

PIERRE, S.D. – New cases of COVID-19 Friday totaled 148 with 21 probable according to the South Dakota Department of Health.

There were also six new deaths reported. One of those was reported out of Pennington County, where the death toll rises to 185. The statewide death toll is now 1,853. Of the deaths Friday, one was reported in an individual in only their 20’s.

Active cases Friday decreased by 40 to 2,028 and the number of people hospitalized was down one to 91.

Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County added 20 new cases Friday to send their cumulative total to 12,709 since the pandemic began.

Meade County had 5 new cases, Lawrence County added 4 and there were two each in Butte, Custer and Fall River counties.

Oglala Lakota County added one new case.
