SPEARFISH, S.D. – The skeletal remains discovered in the Spearfish area on December 10, 2023, have been identified through DNA laboratory testing.
The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office says the deceased individual is confirmed to be 42-year-old Justin Plaggemeyer, a resident of Spearfish who has been missing since January 2021.
His remains were discovered in a remote wooded area outside Spearfish.
Authorities are actively investigating the cause of death and the circumstances surrounding this incident.
