RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Stevens girls soccer team opened the Class ‘AA’ playoffs earlier this week with a decisive win over Brooking, 5 – nil.
Stevens, the No. 2 seed in the playoffs, returned to action on Saturday to face Brandon Valley in the quarterfinals.
Thanks to a stellar defense, the Raiders defeated the Lynx, 3-1. Rapid City Stevens will now host No. 14 Aberdeen Central on Tuesday, Oct. 15 in the semifinals.
The Stevens boys, however, weren’t so lucky.
The Raiders hosted Watertown on Saturday and despite several opportunities by both teams, the match ended scoreless at the end of regulation.
So it came down to a penalty kick shootout and Watertown defeated Stevens, 4-3.
The Arrows converted on 4 of 5 in the shootout.
Meanwhile, the Raiders hit the crossbar on one attempt and the final shot was blocked.
Stevens finishes the season with a record of 12-2-1.
