Some B-1 Bombers back in air after fuel issue

ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE, S.D. – The Air Force has begun returning B-1B bombers to the air after grounding them last month due to a fuel system issue.

Some B-1’s returned to flight from Ellsworth Air Force Base on Monday, about two weeks after Air Force Global Strike Command ordered the fleet of 57 aircraft to stand down for safety inspections on the aircraft’s fuel system.

AFGSC declined to say how many of the B-1’s had been cleared for flight, citing operational sensitivities.
