SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Spearfish Sasquatch had home field advantage, but Souris Valley took game one of the Expedition League Championship Series with an 11-4 win Friday night.
The two teams were knotted at one a piece after two when the Sabre Dogs took a 3-2 lead after three innings. Souris Valley would then add a run in the sixth, two in the seventh and four in the eighth.
Spearfish would plate two runs in the bottom of the ninth.
The Sabre Dogs had 15 hits while Spearfish had 6.
Johnny McHenry and Hayden Driggs each had 2 hits and an R.B.I. to help lead Spearfish.
Declan Buckle led the Sabre Dogs with 3 hits and 3 R.B.I.
Jace Wessels takes the loss for Spearfish, giving up six hits and four runs in 3.2 innings pitched. Wessels had just one strikeout.
Game two is Saturday night in Minot.
